20:24 나의 달려 갈길과 주 예수께 받은 사명 곧 하나님의 은혜의 복음 증거하는 일을 마치려함에는 나의 생명을 조금도 귀한 것으로 여기지 아니하노라”

Acts 20:24

But I do not consider my life of any account as dear to myself, so that I may finish my course and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify solemnly of the gospel of the grace of God.

디스커버리호는 미국 NASA에서 만든 3번째 우주왕복선입니다. 실제 임무를 수행한 3번째 우주왕복선입니다, A Million Miles Away라는 영화가 2023년도에 나왔습니다. 이 디스커버리호를 타고 우주를 여행한 최초의 이민 농장 노동자 멕시코계 미국인 호세 에르난데스(Jose Hernandez)가 꿈을 꾸고 그 꿈을 이루었던 실제적인 이야기를 다루고 있습니다. 멕시코계 미국인 호세 에르난데스가 불가능한 꿈을 이루기 위한 인내, 공동체, 그리고 가족들이 함께 희생하는 모습에 대한 이야기를 담고 있는데 정말 감동적입니다. 보시지 않은 분들이 있다면 꼭 자녀들과 함께 가족들이 보시기를 추천합니다.

Space aboard Discovery is the third space shuttle built by NASA. It is the third space shuttle to perform an actual mission. A movie called A Million Miles Away was released in 2023. It tells the true story of Jose Hernández, a Mexican-American and the first immigrant farm worker to travel into space aboard Discovery, who had a dream and made it come true. It’s a truly moving story of Mexican-American Jose Hernández’s perseverance, community, and the sacrifices his family makes to achieve an impossible dream. If you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend that you and your family watch it with your children.

꿈이라고 하는 말에는 두 가지 뜻이 있습니다. 첫째는 밤에 잠을 자면서 꾼 꿈을 이야기 할 때 꿈이 있습니다. 두 번째는 무엇인가 이루고자 하는 소원과 염원이 장래 희망이 담긴 꿈이 있습니다.

오늘의 본문 사도행전 20:24 을 살펴보도록 하겠습니다.

“나의 달려 갈길과 주 예수께 받은 사명 곧 하나님의 은혜의 복음 증거하는 일을 마치려함에는 나의 생명을 조금도 귀한 것으로 여기지 아니하노라”

또한 로마서 1:15 을 보겠습니다.

“그러므로 나는 할 수 있는대로 로마에 있는 너희에게도 복음 전하기를 원하노라”

The word dream has two meanings. First, there is a dream when talking about a dream you had while sleeping at night. Second, there are dreams that contain hopes and aspirations for the future and wishes to achieve something.

Let’s take a look at today’s text, Acts 20:24.

“But I do not consider my life of any account as dear to myself, so that I may finish my course and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify solemnly of the gospel of the grace of God.”

Let’s also look at Romans 1:15.

“So, for my part, I am eager to preach the gospel to you also who are in Rome.”

사도바울의 간절한 소원과 꿈이 로마에 복음을 전하는 것이라는 사실을 잘 알 수 있습니다. 이렇게 사도바울은 복음증거의 꿈을 가지고 복음을 위해서 헌신 했고, 사도바울을 통해서 세계 복음화의 터전이 마련 된 것입니다. 다시 말해서 우리 순수한 언어로 표현하자면 한마디로 말해서 사도바울은 예수님을 위해서 생명을 바친 하나님의 사람입니다.

고린도후서 5:13을 볼까요

“우리가 만일 미쳤어도 하나님을 위한 것이요, 만일 정신이 온전하여도 너희를 위한 것이니”

사도바울은 자신의 존재 이유를 밝히고 있습니다. 그 이유는 자신이 영원히 죽어야 할 존재인데 살아야 할 이유는 복음증거를 위해서 존재 한다는 것입니다. 다시 말해서 로마의 복음을 전하고자 하는 꿈으로 가득하고, 오직 예수 그리스도 십자가의 복음만을 위해서 사는 존재로서 복음증거를 위해서 미쳤다는 것입니다.

We can clearly see that Apostle Paul’s earnest wish and dream was to spread the gospel to Rome. In this way, Apostle Paul devoted himself to the gospel with the dream of testifying to the gospel, and through Apostle Paul, the foundation for world evangelization was laid. In other words, to put it in our pure language, in short, Apostle Paul is a man of God who gave his life for Jesus.

Let’s look at 2 Corinthians 5:13.

“For if we are beside ourselves, it is for God; “If we are of sound mind, it is for you.”

Apostle Paul reveals the reason for his existence. The reason is that he is a being who must die forever, but the reason he has to live is to testify of the gospel. In other words, he is full of dreams of spreading the gospel of Rome, and as a being who lives only for the gospel of the cross of Jesus Christ, he is crazy for the sake of gospel testimony.

우리모두가 코카콜라 하면 세계 그 어느 누구도 모르는 사람이 없을 것입니다. 또한 마셔보지 않은 사람들이 없을 것입니다. 이 코카콜라가 과거에 공산 정권을 비롯해서 세계에서 유일하게 개방되지 않은 채 자유롭게 다니지 못하는 북한에까지 들어간 것을 보면 코카콜라의 영업방식이 얼마나 대단한가를 알 수 있습니다. 이렇게 코카콜라가 전 세계 구석구석까지 뻗어서 성장 할 수 밖에 없는 이유는 그 회사 사장의 꿈과 비젼, 헌신적인 노력이 있었기 때문입니다.

저는 코카콜라사장의 놀라운 한마디에 감격과 충격을 금할 수가 없습니다. 코카콜라사장은 이렇게 말하였습니다.

“내 몸의 혈관에는 피가 흐르는 것이 아니고 코카콜라가 흐르고 있다. 전 세계의 모든 사람들의 손에는 코카콜라 한 병씩을 손에 들게 하는 것이 나의 목표라고 하였습니다.”

When we all talk about Coca-Cola, there is probably no one in the world who doesn’t know about it. Also, there is probably no one who hasn’t tried it. We can see how great Coca-Cola’s business method is by looking at the fact that Coca-Cola has entered the communist regime in the past and even North Korea, the only country in the world that is not open and where people cannot travel freely. The reason Coca-Cola was able to grow and spread to every corner of the world was because of the dream, vision, and dedicated efforts of the company president.

I cannot help but be moved and shocked by the surprising words of the Coca-Cola CEO. The Coca-Cola CEO said:

“It is not blood flowing through the veins of my body, but Coca-Cola. “My goal is to put a bottle of Coca-Cola in the hands of every person in the world.”

코카콜라 사장은 코카콜라 판매를 위해서 목숨을 건 사람이었고 자신의 모든 정열과 모든 노력을 코카콜라 판매를 위해서 쏟아 부었습니다. 그는 완전히 코카콜라에만 미쳤고 헌신된 사람이었습니다. 지금 우리는 21세기를 살아가고 있습니다. 다시 말해서 급속도로 세계는 다양한 변화 속에 하루하루가 상상을 초월 할 만큼 빠르게 달라지고 있는 현실에서 살아가고 있는 것입니다. 그런데 이렇게 빠른 변화의 흐름속에도 여전히 코카콜라는 잘 팔리고 있고 그가 목표한 모든 것은 모두 다 이루졌다는 사실입니다.

사도 바울도 자신은 오직 예수 그리스도의 복음을 위하여 목숨을 바친 사람이었다고 고백합니다. 사도 바울은 자신의 삶에 목적과 사명이 있었고, 날마다 꿈을 꾸는 하나님의 사람이었습니다. 즉, 그의 삶의 목표는 “오직 예수 그리스도를 위한 것”이었고, 그의 삶의 유일한 관심은 복음을 전 세계에 전파하는 것이었고, 이것이 사도 바울의 진정한 꿈이었습니다.

The president of Coca-Cola was a man who risked his life to sell Coca-Cola and poured all his passion and effort into selling his Coca-Cola. He was completely crazy and devoted to Coca-Cola. Now we are living in the 21st century. In other words, we are living in a reality where the world is rapidly changing day by day, at a rate that goes beyond imagination. However, despite this rapid change, Coca-Cola is still selling well and everything he set out to achieve has been achieved.

Apostle Paul himself confesses that he was a man who gave his life only for the gospel of Jesus Christ. Apostle Paul had a purpose and mission in his life, and he was a man of God who dreamed every day. In other words, the goal of his life was “only for Jesus Christ,” and his only interest in life was to spread the gospel throughout the world, which was Apostle Paul’s true dream.

예수 그리스도의 복음을 위해서라면 목숨을 위협하는 그 어떠한 환난도 기꺼이 감수 할 수 있었으며, 예수 그리스도의 복음을 위해서는 그 어떠한 유익이라도 미련 없이 배설물로 여겼습니다. 그것은 바로 예수 그리스도께서 십자가에서 우리모두를 위하여 전 세계 인류를 위하여 흘리신 피, 바로 피묻은 십자가의 복음인 것입니다.

창세기 45:7-8 을 보겠습니다.

“하나님이 큰 구원으로 당신들의 생명을 보존하고 당신들의 후손을 세상에 두시려고 나를 당신들보다 먼저 보내셨나니, 그런즉 나를 이리로 보낸 이는 당신들이 아니요 하나님이시라 하나님이 나를 바로에게 아버지로 삼으시고 그 온 집의 주로 삼으시며 애굽 온 땅의 통치자로 삼으셨나이다”

요셉의 형들이 애굽의 노예로 팔았던 요셉이 애굽의 총리가 되어 있는 가운데 요셉을 맞이하고 있습니다. 요셉의 형들은 두려워 떨고 있습니다.

For the sake of the gospel of Jesus Christ, he was willing to endure any tribulation that threatened his life, and for the sake of the gospel of Jesus Christ, he thought of any benefit as excrement. It is the gospel of the bloody cross, the blood that Jesus Christ shed on the cross for all of us and all mankind.

Let’s look at Genesis 45:7-8.

“”God sent me before you to preserve for you a remnant in the earth, and to keep you alive by a great deliverance.

“Now, therefore, it was not you who sent me here, but God; and He has made me a father to Pharaoh and lord of all his household and ruler over all the land of Egypt.”

Joseph’s older brothers are welcoming Joseph, whom they sold as a slave to Egypt, now that he is the prime minister of Egypt. Joseph’s brothers are trembling with fear.

그때에 요셉은 형들에게 이렇게 고백하고 있습니다. 하나님이 큰 구원으로 생명을 보존 하시고 후손을 세상에 두시려고 요셉 자신을 먼저 보내셨다고 고백합니다. 그리고 이어서 이곳 애굽으로 보낸이는 형들이 아니고 하나님이라고 강조하고 있습니다.

그렇습니다. 이 세상 모든 만물을 창조하신 분은 하나님이시오. 개인과 국가 온 인류의 역사를 주관하시고 저와 여러분들을 이끄시는 분은 이 세상을 향한 구원의 꿈과 열정으로 가득한 하나님이십니다. 그래서 하나님은 2천년전에 하나밖에 없는 외아들 예수 그리스도를 이 땅에 보내셔서 십자가에서 죽으시고 부활 승천하셨습니다. 누구든지 바로 이 예수를 믿기만 하면 구원받고 영원한 생명의 삶을 약속받게 되었다는 사실입니다.

At that time, Joseph confessed to his brothers: We confess that God sent Joseph himself first to preserve life with great salvation and to place his descendants in the world. And then he goes on to emphasize that it was God, not his brothers, who sent him to Egypt.

That’s right. The one who created all things in this world is God. The person who governs the history of individuals, nations, and all mankind and guides me and you is God, who is full of passion and a dream of salvation for this world. So, 2,000 years ago, God sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, to this earth, died on the cross, was resurrected, and ascended to heaven. The fact is that if anyone just believes in Jesus, he will be saved and promised eternal life.

그렇다면 하나님께서 왜 나를 이 세상에 보내셨을까요? 사도바울처럼 목적이 있고 하나님이 소원하시는 꿈과 하나님의 열정이 저와 여러분 모두에게 있기 때문입니다. 저와 여러분 우리모두는 십자가에서 죽으시고 부활하신 예수님을 믿습니다. 예수 그리스도를 믿는 다는 것은 무엇입니까! 믿음으로 예수 그리스도에게 내 삶을 완전히 맡기고 내 인생의 삶의 중심이 바뀌게 된다는 말입니다. 즉 나를 중심으로 하는 삶 속에서 이 세상 모든 만물을 창조 하신 하나님 중심의 삶으로 바뀌게 된다는 것입니다. 세상은 끊임없이 발전하고 있지만 죄로 가득한 이 세상은 어두운 것이 오늘의 현실입니다. 그러나 이 땅을 살아가면서 우리가 진정으로 기억해야 하는 것은 결코 우연이라는 것은 없다는 말씀입니다. 하나님이 이 땅을 창조하시고 우리 모두를 창조하신 가운데 고난과 환난이 있는 이 땅에서 끊임없는 인내와 연단 속에서도 십자가를 붙들고 살아야 할 이유가 있다는 사실입니다.

So why did God send me to this world? Because, like Apostle Paul, we all have a purpose, the dream that God desires, and the passion of God. You and I, we all believe in Jesus who died on the cross and was resurrected. What does it mean to believe in Jesus Christ? This means that by faith, I completely entrust my life to Jesus Christ and the center of my life changes. In other words, a life centered on me will change into a life centered on God, who created all things in this world. The world is constantly developing, but the reality today is that this world is full of sin and is dark. However, what we must truly remember as we live on this earth is that there is no such thing as coincidence. The fact is that while God created this earth and all of us, there is a reason to live by holding on to the cross even through constant patience and refinement in this land of suffering and tribulation.

이 땅에서 삶을 바라보면 소망이 없습니다. 하지만 저와 여러분 우리 모두가 감당해야 할 사명과 목적, 하나님이 소원하시는 꿈이 있기 때문에 지금 현재 이곳에 존재하고 있다는 사실을 알고 날마다 감사하며 하나님께서 주시는 꿈을 가지고 살아가야 합니다. 그래서 이 어두운 시대 속에서 바로 우리모두가 살 수 있는 길은 예수 그리스도를 만나야 하고, 예수 그리스도의 손을 붙들고 가야 한다는 것을 강조하는 것입니다. 예수님만이 우리들의 유일한 소망이고 희망이라는 사실입니다. 우리들은 날마다 십자가를 붙들고 예수님께 가까이 나아가는 삶속에서 예수 그리스도를 증거 하는 삶을 살아야 합니다. 바로 이 예수 그리스도를 통하여 새로운 피조물이 되는 가운데 하나님의 뜻을 이루어 가는 말씀의 사람, 진정한 가치를 추구하는 꿈꾸는 하나님의 사람들이 되시길 바랍니다. 그러므로 우리모두는 예수 그리스도의 복음을 전하는 열정, 오직 하나님께만 영광을 돌리는 꿈으로 가득한 복된 삶이되시길 예수님 이름으로 축복합니다.

There is no hope when looking at life on this earth. However, you and I, we all have a mission and purpose to fulfill and a dream that God desires, so we must know that we exist here and now, be thankful every day, and live with the dream that God has given us. So, I am emphasizing that the way for all of us to live in these dark times is to meet Jesus Christ and hold on to Jesus Christ’s hand. The truth is that Jesus is our only hope . We must live a life that bears witness to Jesus Christ by holding on to the cross every day and moving closer to Jesus. I hope that you will become a new creation through Jesus Christ, a person of the word who fulfills God’s will, and a dreamer of God who pursues true values. Therefore, in the name of Jesus, we bless you all to have a blessed life filled with passion for spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ and dreams that glorify only God.
